Drone pilot booked for flying a drone in Noordwijk

In the evening of Thursday 19 June on Zeereep in Noordwijk, the police encountered a person who was flying a drone in the closed airspace zone. The drone was confiscated and the owner was booked.



Around 21:30 hrs., the police received a report of a person who was flying a drone, including a description of this person. Police officers who were in the area saw the man and addressed him. His drone was confiscated and he was given a ticket. It is up to the public prosecutor to decide what will happen next. From Wednesday 18 June, unmanned aerial vehicles, such as drones, are subject to a ban on flying in the areas around The Hague, Valkenburg and Noordwijk.

Enforcing the ban on flying

The police are strictly enforcing the drones ban in the closed airspace zone. If the rules are violated, for example, by flying a drone where this is not allowed, the pilot may be fined or the drone confiscated. Despite the ban, which entered into effect on Wednesday, we have detected and grounded several drones, some of which were confiscated. We therefore make another urgent appeal to respect the airspace closure and to refrain from flying drones.
